About Christopher Homes

Chris Mayes grew up in the trades, learning to swing a hammer while watching his grandfather Zeb build furniture in his basement. At 12, he started tagging along with Zeb to carpentry jobs, picking up knowledge and experience along the way. In high school, he apprenticed with his uncle, Ferdinand Yoder, and was a quick study in the art of masonry.

Chris established Christopher Masonry in 1992, building hundreds of foundations, brick veneers, and fireplaces for volume builders and custom builders throughout northeast Ohio. As usual, he paid attention and learned about the process of building a home from start to finish.

In 2004, Chris began to pursue a wider goal: Building custom homes that reflected the individual needs of the client, with attention to detail, craftsmanship, and customer service. (Fun fact: Chris built his first home when his son Luke was a baby. Now Luke is a member of his crew!)

Since 2004, Christopher Homes has built custom homes in Stark, Portage, Summit and Medina counties, as well as additions and renovations to existing homes. Christopher Homes thrive on word-of-mouth business and long-standing relationships built with communication, trust and mutual respect.
